Nixle is a service that allows you to receive trusted, up-to-date neighborhood information for where you live, work, visit – or for where your family and friends are located throughout the country. The service is at no cost to you. However, standard text messaging rates apply.
You choose the information you want, for the locations you want, from urgent public safety alerts to less time sensitive advisories and community information.
You choose how you want to receive the information, whether it is over your cell phone by text message, by email, or over the web.

Until now, there has never been a trusted and secure service that connects municipal agencies and authorized community organizations to residents, businesses and community visitors, with the same ease and in the same way that current services such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter provide users with an unauthenticated platform for connections.
Nixle provides one standardized service for all of us to receive immediate and trusted geographically based information. Whether it is information relevant to the neighborhood where we live, the commercial building where we work, or for any other location where our friends and family may be located, Nixle keeps us connected.
Nixle allows all local police departments, municipal agencies and authorized community organizations to directly communicate trusted information to the persons located in precise geographically targeted locations, sharing important, time-sensitive information using their existing secure computer terminals. This ensures we receive trusted and accurate information.
We anticipate all locations throughout the United States to be available by spring 2009. We encourage pre-registration and will immediately advise you by text message and email when each location you have selected becomes available.

Nixle was created by a team of technology, safety, and communication professionals who want to bring community back to a place based location rather than a virtual one. Nixle allows residents, businesses, and visitors of neighborhoods and communities throughout the country to receive the geographically relevant important information they need-to-know and want-to- know. Our computers and mobile phones can now give us access to our own information with the same ease that they have traditionally given us access to the world’s information.
Nixle believes access to trusted information is the best way to build safer, stronger, and more connected neighborhoods and communities. We've partnered with Nlets, the International Public Safety and Justice Network.
Nlets is the international, computer-based message switching system that links together state, local, and federal law enforcement and justice agencies for the purpose of exchanging in formation. Nlets helps police departments throughout the country and internationally communicate with one another over a secure closed network system. Nixle and Nlets now take communication to the next level, allowing local agencies to directly communicate with all of us sharing geographically targeted, important and time sensitive information.
